One-year ago today, a massive earthquake sent Haiti into a state of emergency. As I tweeted away I remember my time line filling up with reports of the quake. Like so many I turned my television to MSNBC to see what was going on.
Hours later as phone calls from people in Haiti started to come through I was in shock. I wasn’t in shock about the earthquake because I know that God will shake, rattle and roll this earth however he sees fit. I was in shock because as pictures started to come in and live reports aired, I saw Katrina all over again. I knew no one would really help them recover.
Just like Katrina survivors, Haitian survivors are still in a state of despair. It bothers me how all those people tried to accuse Wyclef Jean of misappropriating funds but majority of the money raised for Haiti hasn’t reached their home front yet. I think that happened with Katrina victims too. Just saying…
When will people across this world rise above the standard and do the right thing. There is no reason for Haitians to still live in tents with allllll the money that was raised to repair their country. When will the real honest leaders step up and do the right thing?
So as I remember Haiti I pray that God uses their tragedy to give them double for their trouble. People shouldn’t have to live like that…
